Mexican Jumping Snow Goose

Winter finally, FINALLY arrived here in Maine.  Three cheers for snow!  We got dumped on with a storm this past weekend.  Now normally, when I refer to “dumped on” it involves a couple feet of snow…you know in the 2-3 feet category.  But for this crazy warm winter, “dumped on” is more like 2-3 inches.

So this weekend we reveled in the new snow and did a little shoveling and a lot of playing with Goose.  Goose loves the snow…snow balls, snow shoveling, snow for dinner…just no snowmen…he’s deathly afraid of snowmen.  Such a scared-ie Goose!

Goose’s favorite activity in the snow is jumping after it.  It’s not uncommon to find him jumping after EVERY shovel full of snow that we throw while cleaning out the driveway.  And if you throw a snowball, he’ll jump in front of it, usually taking it in the face (foolish dog), batting it down before it hits the ground.  He’ll even catch the snow balls out of the air if he gets the right amount of ups.

So this weekend, we spent a significant amount of time outside throwing snow at the dog.  Literally…AT the dog.

And practicing taking action shots on the fancy new camera.

For most of the shots, Goose just jumped right out of the frame.  He’s fast.  And super jumpy.  But I got a few good ones of the pup while Colby threw the snow.

And did I mention that this wears Goose out significantly?  After a good snow throwing session (we’re talking about an hour steady here), Goose will settle in for a loooooong nap on the couch.  We’re talking 3 to 4 hours of napping  here.  That’s just about unheard of with Goose thanks to his insane energy level.

That dog sure loves to jump.  And twist while he jumps.  He kept getting himself wrapped around his run.

So this concludes our little Mexican Jumping Snow Goose photo session.  I hope you enjoyed it.  I didn’t really mean to blog about our snow Goose this evening, but it’s WAY past my bedtime and I needed a quick blog post.  I just don’t have it in me to be witty and funny and post an amazing tutorial or even photo edit.  It’s been one of those crazy busy evenings.  Le sigh…I’m finally off to bed.

Pssst…tomorrow we’ll return to our regularly scheduled blogging with a DIY, rustic CD storage solution.  You don’t want to miss it!  It’s still a work in progress but boy does it look good!  Colby even let me use his power tools…brave man!
