As some of you may know, Colby is from a very small town in Vermont called Rochester. We’re talking a graduating class of 24 kind of small. And boy is Colby proud of his town! He always gets cheesed up when we talk about Rochester and even MORE cheesed up when we’re gearing up for a little trip to Rochester. He beams. Seriously….he beams. So anyway, while we were shopping our house for items to frame, we came across this poster of Rochester that Colby’s mom gave us last summer.
Colby got so excited when we brought out the poster. He started pointing things out, like “oh look….there’s my cousin Matt and the Valley Rescue Squad”.
“And the Skip Mart, oh the Skip Mart”.
“And look…that’s where I graduated…that person looks like a dog!” True story. I’m pretty sure Colby is completely incapable of being 100% serious at anything. That’s why I love him!
So when it came down to picking a frame for the poster, Colby took the bull by the horns and asked if he could make a frame for it. I, being the super supportive GF that I am, was all for it. I thought a rustic, homemade frame would be so perfect for the mismatched frame gallery that I was planning. I was totally going for a planned but looks unplanned gallery. So I was beyond thrilled when Colby’s framing project turned out so nicely.
Recognize the stain? It was leftover from the rustic CD crates that we made for the living room back here. As far as a “how-to” build the picture frame, sadly I forgot to take pictures during the process. Cue up the “wop-wop”. I know, I’m bummed too. But it was a pretty easy project with some left over pine. The only difficult part was figuring out how to attach the glass to the frame. Turns out there’s nothing that a glue gun can’t fix!
