Wedding Wednesday: Guest Book Alternative

It’s that time of the week folks, Wedding Wednesday is upon us yet again.  And since we’re less than 100 days away from the big day (scary) it’s about time I started to think about all those details…like centerpieces and card holders and guest books…oh my.  But let’s talk about guest books.  I can’t say Colby and I are a traditional couple when it comes to getting hitched so why should our guest book be traditional?  I totally dig all the funky, fun and creative ideas for guest book alternatives.  And the amount of creativity oozing out there never ceases to amaze me.  So let’s go take a little tour du guest book on some of my faves.  First up from here:

I love how this couple customized their guest book pages, which looks like a printed photo book, with prompts for their guests to respond to.  Love it!

Second up from here:

This idea is GENIUS!  It’s a time capsule guest book.  Guests leave a love note of some sort, put it in the jar, then the couple seals it up not to read through the notes until their one year anniversary.  I think it would be so cute to sit down with Colby and open up this little time capsule while celebrating our anniversary…although I’m not quite sure I could make it.  Maybe on the one month anniversary?!  I know…it defeats the purpose.

Third up from here:

This guest book alternative is absolutely adorable and plays well with the rustic charm we’re looking for.  Guests leave little love notes on wooden hearts.  I can just envision having a cute little box on a bookcase or coffee table filled with love notes.  I would definitely pour through those notes over and over again.

Fourth up from here:

I’m pretty certain this one is my favorite.  It’s kind of like the previous guest book alternative, except that the wooden hearts are replaced with paper hearts.  I like the versatility of later framing up all the notes, or putting them in a scrap book or decorative box, etc.  And as your decor changes, you could easily switch up how you display your guest book love notes.

Fifth up from here:

Guests write their “advice” for the happy couple and drop the “advice” in a box.  Once again, I find this idea totally adorable.  Except that I can see our sarcastic, witty, fun-loving family members writing things like “run while you still can” and “the wife is ALWAYS right” (except that I am always right…so that one is true…I kid I kid…kind of) and other sarcastical and witty comments.  Don’t deny it, you know you ALL would write things like that!  Although that might be kind of fun.

And finally, although it’s not a guest book, I found this guest book table banner from here:

And I’m 100% committed to recreating the banner for our guest book station.  Or maybe in triangular banner form?!

Pssst…So I’m oh so desperately trying not to give things away about our wedding….as in I don’t want our friends and family to show up and know every single little detail.  But I am DYING to share you project details and things we’re purchasing and making for the wedding.  What do you all think?  More projects?

  • I’ve been randomly humming about guest books too. I have no clue what to do, and we’ll likely end up with the traditional type, but I so do want something unique and quirky!

I can really see the wooden hearts on your table (mostly while considering what you’re loving for decoration). What a lovely idea!

    • You could totally dress up a traditional guest book! That would be cool! There are some neat ones on Etsy. But there’s something about those white taffeta, tulle covered books that give me the creeps! Soooo wasn’t born with the bride gene!

So, what do you think?
