June Monthly Roundup

Another day…another dollar…another month…another roundup.  And I’m not gonna lie, this month flew by faster than a speeding Goose…I mean bullet.  Although if Goose was running after a squirrel, he may just beat out that bullet.  But seriously, the months seem to be speeding by and June was no exception.  But two weekends in Vermont plus today was NH Bragg’s Open House (NH Bragg…home of my day job and one of the best suppliers for tools, safety, and janitorial supplies out there…shameless plug) will do that to a girl.  But this weekend should be nice, quiet AND relaxing.  Emphasis on relaxing.  So now that I’ve rambled for way too long, how about a little monthly recap?!

Been Hanging Around:  And by hanging around I mean the sheetrock has been hanging around…in our master and guest bedrooms.  We installed sheetrock in both those rooms after gutting them out and adding insulation.

June…The Month Of The Trellis:  I officially declared June the month of the trellis.  We built a green bean trellis in the veggie garden.

And a rustic style trellis who is sporting climbing roses these days.

Best Use Of Bead Board:  My bead board obsession continues, this time in the kitchen closet.  And after nearly a month since it’s installation, the bead board got painted.  AND there’s a closet plan.  But it will probably be another month until that gets finished.

On The Wedding Front:  We (and by we I really mean I…Colby-ies don’t use no stinkin’ glue gun) put together a little centerpiece prototype of our birch bark pots, gave an invitation sneak peak, assembled some burlap wrapped mason jar candle holders (say that ten times fast), ordered favor boxes for our homemade whoopie pie favors, and freaked out just a little bit.

30 Before 30:  Then I publicly proclaimed my 30 Before 30 List, basically 30 things I want to accomplish before my thirtieth birthday next year.  Sadly, I haven’t checked a single thing off that list so far. Wop-wop-wop.

Bluest Moment:  When we painted the basement door in our dining room a baby blue color, one of the same blue shades from the ombre staircase baluster project.

Stinkiest Moment:  I attempted to clean paintbrushes with vinegar, like in all those Pinterest pins.  But it sadly didn’t work.  I was just left with stinky, gross paint brushes.

Gettin’ My Garden On:  Despite all the rain and minor monsoons going on in Maine during the month of June, we did manage to plant a flower garden along the driveway side of our house, complete with flowers planted for our wedding.

The Greatest Escape:  When we camped out on Lake Champlain in Vermont for the Lake Champlain International fishing derby.  It was legen…wait for it…dary.

Vinegar Bottles:  Then there was the great vinegar bottle cute-i-fication of 2012.  Instead of using the bulk vinegar bottles (ugly..cough cough), I transferred the liquid to cuter, more manageable sized bottles that can live on the counter.

Basic Organization For Dummies…I mean…Angies:  Paint chip organization…it was simple, took me about 2 minutes to do, and has made me so stinkin’ happy I pinch myself to make sure I’m not dreaming.  True story.

How To Restore Old Hardware:  Then we kicked off a pair of how-to’s, starting with how-to restore old hardware.  We went to town stripping old paint and gunk off the hardware on that basement door of ours that we’ve been working on all month.

How To Repair Old Trim:  And then there was a follow up post on how to fix old trim.  So now we can officially re-install that basement door in the dining room.

And scene.  That’s all folks.  You don’t have to go home but you can’t stay here.

Pssst…Happy (almost) weekend everyone!  Who’s excited?!  I’m excited!  I see a few naps in my near future…and hammocking.
