Wedding Wednesday: My Momma’s Sew Amazing

This past Saturday my Mom came down for a visit and to help me work on a few wedding related craft projects.  I desperately wanted the help…like begging and groveling at her feet desperately needed the help.  I’m up to my eyeballs in stamping favor boxes, making favor card name tags, and sewing tulle pom poms (read more about that here).  One of the projects that my Momma helped me with was the ring bearer’s pillow.

Actually, I had originally planned to work on it together during our Saturday wedding craft-a-palooza but she’s so amazing…or should I say “sew amazing…that she made it all ahead of time and just brought it down for me to drool over.  Seriously…that flower in the middle is to die for…AND it’s a cheap-o from Walmart.

Sadly, I can’t give you the play by play on how to recreate it but it is simple.  All it involves is some burlap cloth, lace ribbon, no-sew cloth adhesion tape, ribbon, batting, and the flower applique.  Pretty self explanatory.

The most amazing part….this was the inspiration photo that I set her to go by (original source unknown…it was uploaded by a Pinterest user).

And then the side by side comparisons.

I told you…my mom is pretty much amazing.  She pretty much duplicated the inspiration picture but made it better with a cuter flower and some ribbon for tying the wedding bands to the pillow.  So everybody raise your glass (I’m drinking from my new favorite $6 bottle of wine…big spender) and let’s hear it for my Mom!  Hip hip hooray!  She’s the best!

In other wedding related news…the zinnias that we’re growing for the bridesmaids bouquets are going gangbusters.

They just started blooming and they are gorgeous with a capital gorge!

About a dozen have bloomed (hopefully they can hold on for about three more weeks) and there are still a ton that are just budding.  Fingers crossed it all works out in the end and I can gather enough to snip and make into bouquets for the gals.

So now that I’ve raved about Momma Bear and how awesome the ring pillow she made for our wedding turned out, it’s time I turned my attention back to the tulle pom pom sewing project that never ends.  Only about 42 more to go!  Woot woot!

Pssst…I’m so excited to announce that I’ll be guest blogging for one of my new favorite blogs, Life of Splendor some time during the next week.  Woo to the hoo!  This is uber exciting!  Stay tuned for details and the post link!  Or go stop by Lindsay’s blog now and tell her I said hi!
