I’ll take things that are more expensive than our new sink for $200 Alex. Many people, specifically in New England, are addicted to this item and “need” it to begin their morning commute to work. What is a large Dunkin Donuts coffee, Alex? You’re right! Yes, indeed-ie-do our new sink is CHEAPER than a large Dunkin Donuts coffee. And just how much might that be? Well, around here it’s about $2.49. So how much does that make our new sink? A whopping $2! Meet our new bathroom sink:
Now let’s step back to the very beginning, a very good place to start (sorry…sometimes I can’t help myself for adding a little snippet from the Sound of Music). The other night Colby ran off to Lowes. It was late and he was in desperate need for an axe since he was about to leave for hunting camp. He snuck in all giddy like a schoolgirl and told me he had a surprise for me. The last time he did that it was flowers so I pseudo expected flowers from the ‘Ferd (Hannaford that is). But alas…he pulled this sink out from behind his back. The sink was on clearance…deeply discounted clearance because it was a floor model and Lowes was switching out all their sink displays. Thus it only cost two measly dollars (I’m not kidding when I say my morning coffee costs more than this sink!). Want to see the proof?
The sink is perfect, amazing, and I’m almost certain it’s the one I had picked over a year ago when we were first starting our bathroom renovation. The other awesome part….my mom gave us a bunch of renovation materials when I bought the place back in May of 2010, including a couple of brand new bathroom faucets that she had bought for their house (my parents just finished building their retirement dream home…and they built it themselves…what can I say…I get my DIY attitude from my momma) but ended up not using….long story short, they fit the new sink! Woohooo! So to recap, the free faucets fit the $2 sink AND both go so well with the clearance tile that we picked up a few months ago (you can read about that here and here). I think the sink gods are trying to tell us it’s time to finally break down and build the bathroom vanity…you know…since we finally have all the pieces to do it!
Also, before a bid you adieu for the weekend, I’ve compiled a list of things that are CHEAPER than our sink (this was a difficult list to populate):
- A pack of gum
- 1/4 gallon of gas
- The really cheap shampoo at Target, the stuff that Colby uses
- Rice a Roni from the dollar store
- A piece of sanding paper
- A very small percent ownership in a very small company
- A copy of Vanilla Ice’s “Cool As Ice” movie
- A week’s supply of Ramen Noodles
- Yesterday’s newspaper
Pssst…So excited for the weekend! Who’s excited?! Any fun projects? I’ve got a super fun super secret project I’ll be tackling with some help from my momma. Can’t wait to share it with you. And it’s a first for Angie’s Roost!
