I get knocked down, but I get up again, you’re never gonna keep me down, I get knocked down, but I get up again, you’re never gonna keep me down, I get knocked down….. Nothing like a little old school Chumbawamba to start off the blog post. So now with that song officially stuck in your head too and not just on constant replay in mine, on to how it relates to the latest house project. Remember back here when we added labels to the bathroom towel hooks? Well, they didn’t last more than two days before this started to happen:
And our sad and lonely little hooks looked a lot like this for a few months:
Notice the velcro residue? So what happened to our hook labels?! They got knocked down! But they’ll get up again! You’re never gonna keep ’em down! Sorry…no promises I won’t spontaneously break into song again. Consider yourself lucky that you’re not exposed to my exceptionally awful singing voice. In all seriousness, those labels in the cute little craft store frames didn’t stand a chance before. We had previously attached them by sticking some velcro adhesive to the wall and to the back of the frame. Apparently stick on velcro plus bathroom moisture plus bathroom grade paint equals rapidly falling label hooks. So we had to come up with a new solution…nails!
To fix the labels we first drilled some starter holes into the wall where we would eventually push the nails through:
We totally used the highly scientific “eyeball it” approach to the hole location. Call it cocky…I just call it mad skills! Then we drilled holes in the back side of the frame where the nail would get poked through:
Note the finesse Colby uses while wielding his power tool! Sorry…couldn’t help it. I’m 12 I swear! Then we pushed a large headed nail through the back of the frame so the head of the nail was secure between the glass part of the frame and the frame backing:
Then each nail/frame combo was pushed into the starter nail hole on the wall over the appropriate hook:
And there you have it:
Ahhhh…so much better!
So to recap….they got knocked down, then got up again, you’re never gonna keep ’em down, they got knocked down, then got up again, you’re never gonna keep ’em down. Got it?!

That’s so cute!
Awwwwwww…thank you! And thanks for the comment (I heart comments). The towel hook labels were so easy and cute. You can get the frames for about a buck apiece at AC Moore.
Oh I love this!!! Very cute! I love those little frames.
Awww…thank you! It was a super simple/cheap project too! They actually came from the wedding aisle at our local craft store, AC Moore. Thanks for stopping by!
[…] Best Bathroom Flair: The his/hers/guest labels for the towel hooks. I adore these hooks even though they were a pain in the butt to hang up, and get them to stay up. Read about them here and here. […]
