Let’s put that door in already! Right?! To recap our door slab to installed door saga, we first learned a little door lingo and then prepped the raw door slab for hanging, which included routing out the door and jambs for hinges. Now all that’s left is a little door hanging. So let’s hang, shall … Read more
Now that you’re all up to speed in door hanging lingo, let’s hang a door, shall we? And I’m about to say “jamb” way too often so why don’t we turn this into a little drinking game? Kidding. I wouldn’t survive that game! Anyway…as we mentioned in last week’s post, one of our shameless money … Read more
It’s no surprise that Colby and I are both big fans of saving money where we can while renovating our house. We’ve done it all to save a buck…bought cheap fixtures from the Habitat for Humanity Re-Store, picked up items from the lumber yard bargain bin, painted flea market finds for cheap, and have accepted … Read more
The pictures have been uploaded, the bags unpacked, the laundry done, and my I’m-a-pasty-Maine-girl-so-it’s-not-even-a-tan tan has almost faded. It’s official, we’ve returned from our Puerto Rican honeymoon and lived to tell the tale. And now we’re about to share that tale with you all…well…most of the tale since I’ve been told that my mother in … Read more
I love our dog, I really do, but sometimes he does stuff like this: Look at him sitting there all innocent and smug looking. Yup…one of my favorite things in our house, my beloved orange lamp from Pottery Barn, is officially dead. Time of death 2:51 pm. And I cried. Like, CRIED cried and then … Read more
I would like to say that our first weekend back from Puerto Rico, we hit the house projects hard! But no…despite all good intentions to poly floors, install door knobs and sew curtains, I managed to amount to nothing other than getting a new phone plan, baking cupcakes, and watching a ridiculous number of Downton … Read more
That’s right…the Colbster and I JUST returned from an epicly awesome Puerto Rican, 7 month belated honeymoon adventure. Are you surprised?! I’m certainly surprised that we’re back in Maine. Since yesterday we started the “long overdue trend” with finally finishing the wooden bookcase that Colby built over a year ago, how about another long overdue switcheroo?! This time it occurs in the kitchen…and with this sad looking dude. That’s an iPod dock/clock radio. Colby and I are both big fans of music in the … Read more
I’m getting ahead of myself tonight with this project. Or maybe I’m just REALLY behind. Depends on how you look at it. Kind of like one of those glass is half empty or half full kind of deals. So I painted a bookcase green and plopped it into the guest bedroom. Game day bucket go … Read more

When we last left off in the guest room renovation saga, it looked a little something like this: Walls up, joints mudded, painted ceiling and walls, and freshly installed wide pine flooring. It was already starting to look better, kind of like Kim Kardashian once she takes off all that makeup. But what would make … Read more
I’m just going to get right to this. I am WOEFULLY behind in tackling my 30 Before 30 list…woefully behind! Out of the 30 tasks on that list, I’ve only tackled about five of them and I only have about five months left to finish the remaining 25. Uh oh…crunch time! At least my grad … Read more
We certainly don’t give a ship around here! I don’t give a ship that I’m up past my bedtime writing this post. I don’t give a ship that our dog is acting uber annoying this evening. And I certainly don’t give a ship that it’s raining outside right now. What do I give a ship … Read more
Today’s post isn’t about a glamorous project, or a terribly exciting project, but one of those necessities that you just have to pull up your big girl pants and take care of…the attic staircase installation. When we did all the demo work upstairs, we moved the tiny attic staircase opening that Colby barely fit through, … Read more
