It’s back! The Pinterest Challenge Winter Edition! Game day bucket go boom! For those unfamiliar with the KFC “game day bucket go boom” commercial, you can check it out here on YouTube. I adore Pinterest Challenge time. It’s just the kick in the pants I need to stop pinning and start doing. Although sometimes it … Read more
When we last left off on the great saga that will forever be known to the world as “operation blue entry”, the only thing left to tackle on the to-do list was to add some art. Since I’m all for working with what ya got, I pulled out a few packs of hula girl postcards … Read more
Two things…one…I’ve been watching ALOT of Die Hard lately (hence the blog post title) and two…we’ve laid down the pine flooring in our upstairs hallway and took it from this (a laminate mess): To this (a wide pine masterpiece): I’m not gonna lie, we tackled this project a couple weeks ago but I’ve been dreading … Read more
We finally did it…we bit the bullet and invested in a real light fixture in our master bedroom. Not gonna lie…we haven’t had an overhead light fixture in this room since we moved in nearly three years ago thanks to a little Colby breaking it while trying to get into the attic incident. Anyway…meet our … Read more
And just like that, our guest bedroom is officially painted. Booyah. I wish I could tell you that we “hemmed and hawed” over the wall color, tested out the paint chips in the room during various times of day and light, and made an informed decision after serious deliberations. But I can’t. Instead, I turned … Read more
Saturday morning, while it was hardcore snowing outside, we brought the white out inside and primed up the guest bedroom. All it took was a couple of hours time and a gallon of primer to achieve the little white box. Not gonna lie…I’m pretty sure this is the best the room has ever looked! It’s so … Read more
This weekend was a whirlwind…wait…uh…no…not really. We got snowed in this past weekend thanks to winter storm Nemo. Neither Colby or myself left the house the entire day on Saturday, but we stocked up and prepared for the storm Friday night. And by stocked up I mean we came home with a case of beer … Read more
Before I dive into today’s blog post I need to explain the title and the associated Jeanne-ism. Jeanne is one of my co-workers, probably one of the loudest, and one of her top ten phrases is “succa-please”. Succa-PleasePassive-aggressive behavior at its most eloquentColby: Let’s just take one more lap around the Dick’s Sporting Goods hunting … Read more
It’s officially February so I’m officially allowing myself to “think pink” as in Valentine’s Day pink. Can we just take a minute to recognize the fact that I have NEVER set out a single decoration for Valentine’s Day?! Strange huh?! It’s like I don’t even know who I am anymore! Especially since I’m all about … Read more
Last week, or was it a few weeks ago, I can’t remember whether I’m coming or going these days, I posted about our trip to the Big Chicken Barn in Ellsworth, Maine. We shared all the cool goods that we wanted to come home with. But what did we actually get? This collection of stuff: … Read more
It’s official…our entry is done! And done with pizazz, otherwise known as entrifical force. And an entrifical force our entry certainly is complete with some organization and Nate Berkus accessories. Bam! Almost knocked you over there, didn’t she?! I told you the entry is sporting some serious entrifical force. Last time I say that, I … Read more
Okay…so I know I promised you a tutorial for you…yesterday…one of the Pottery Barn iPad stand knockoff that we made and revealed back here. And didn’t do it yesterday (bad blogger…hanging head in shame). But it was just one of those computer-not-working-dog-is-obnoxious-Colby-was-on-the-road-and-I-have-no-idea-how-we-made-the-iPad-stand-without-him kind of days. You have those too, right?! But karma rewarded me with … Read more
Let’s just set the record straight…me and Pottery Barn are like peanut butter and jelly. But Pottery Barn is like the expensive, organic peanut butter and jelly rather than the generic, cheap stuff that I tend to gravitate to. I’m not sure where I’m going with that. My point…I love Pottery Barn (it was one … Read more
On many of our road trips to and from Vermont (home of Cabot Cheese, Long Trail beer and Colby’s family), we tend to track down neat little antiques stores and shops. But when it comes to our own back yard, we tend to neglect it. We live in Maine…which I’m pretty sure has one of … Read more
Tonight we’ve got the third and final installment of the $5 thrift chair refinishing saga. I know, exciting stuff. We revealed the chair refinish, then posted about how we fixed the broken spring, and tonight it’s all about how we got the upholstery done. The supplies we used for upholstering the chair included a yard … Read more
This is happening right now. Like, right, right now. And I couldn’t be more excited. So excited that I postponed the “how to upholster a thrift store chair” for another day in lieu of this hot mess. Oh yeah, that’s my handy hubby Colby who’s been working on mudding and sanding the drywall in the … Read more
