We’re just going to keep this little “how to fix old stuff” train right on rolling through. Yesterday we talked about how to restore old hardware and today we’re going to dive right in and do the how-to-fix-old-trim post. But first, let’s say hello to our basement dwelling friend, Mr. Einstein, who’s hanging out by … Read more
When we last left off in the dining room door refinishing project, we had finished priming and painting the door. Meaning we still had to fix the door casing, prime and paint the casing, and refinish the door hardware. Originally, I had planned to spray paint the hardware oil rubbed bronze. But when I told … Read more
I needed a quick and easy project this evening for a blog post. Why? Because A…my day job is consuming some serious time these days…B…we’ve been mudding/sanding fools upstairs in our master bedroom which is also time consuming (and doesn’t make for exciting posts)…and C…we just returned from our second straight weekend in Vermont. And … Read more
Sometimes it’s the little things in life that give me the most joy. You know…a good book in the hammock, ice cream on a hot and sticky day, hanging out with Colby on a lake, or upgrading to glass vinegar bottles. Yes…I have dedicated an entire blog post on how I upgraded our bulky, plastic … Read more
It has been a very exciting week so far this week on the wedding front, even after my minor freak out yesterday. In fact, it’s like the wedding gods are smiling down on me and telling me it will all be okay. And it’s really sinking in that people are coming to this shin dig … Read more
Bad blogger, bad blogger. Back on Sunday I update you with a rustic, hand crafted, and virtually free garden trellis and never revealed to you the finished garden product. For shame! It must be all this invitation assembly that’s going on. My brain appears to be fried…or out to lunch. But anywho…lets get back to … Read more
This Wedding Wednesday post is short and sweet. Why? Because I’m up to my eyeballs in invitations. Operation invitation assembly has fully commenced and it’s taking FOR-EV-ER (imagine the fat kid from the Sandlot as “FOR-EV-ER” reverberates in your head). So I thought I would stop by and drop you a note (and a couple … Read more
After a couple weeks FULL of painting projects (dining room door, kitchen closet beadboard & trim), the paint brushes took it a little hard. Real hard. I’ve had the same brushes since my first major brush purchase back in the spring of 2010, in my first few months of home ownership. Needless to say, a … Read more
Blue! You’re my boy! Or should I say door. But let’s back up a step. We’ll get to the blue door in just a minute. But you see, we have this basement door. It’s in our dining room. And one side of it got a coat of primer a couple years ago. That’s it. End … Read more
Just about when I decided to start building the ark, the clouds parted and a yellow, glowing orb (more affectionately known as the sun) decided to show it’s face once again, gracing us with its presence. In other words…it stopped raining and the sun came out to play this weekend. Since our indoor projects could … Read more
And by birch pot, I don’t mean some fancy new designer drug. Although I may be on to something?! No, I mean a clay pot wrapped in birch bark. This is the, how do you say it, the piece de la resistance for the centerpieces at our wedding reception according to the reception decor mood … Read more
Even though we’re up to our eyeballs in sheet rock, insulation, and joint compound, we’re still finding time to work on the gazillion and a half projects that we’ve started throughout the rest of the house. Case in point…the kitchen closet. As some of you may have noticed in some of the flea market find … Read more
It’s safe to say that our veggie garden has officially sprung and we are happy to announce that we will, in fact, have vegetables this year! Last weekend we were taking a walk through the garden, occasionally weeding it (I had to wait a few weeks until I could tell for certain the difference between … Read more
I know it’s been over a week since we last posted about the massive bedroom renovations/makeovers that are going on in our home. We may have been el silento (like my made up Spanish word?) in the last week but that doesn’t mean that we haven’t been busy reassembling the space. Not too long ago, … Read more
Let the wedding crafting season begin! She announces via megaphone to a room full of…errrr…Gooses & Colby-ies. It’s official, I have started decor crafting for our upcoming wedding, and by upcoming I mean 72 days away but who’s counting?! First up on the the craft list, table numbers. And I’m just gonna cut right to … Read more
Flea market that is. This past weekend Colby and I took a little drive down east, through Belfast and Searsport, Maine. Not only was it a gorgeous weekend for a drive but also to peruse the many flea markets and antique shops along the way. For anyone who visits or lives in Maine, I highly … Read more
