Since our bedrooms are still the most ginormous mess in the history of ginormous messes, I don’t really have much of an update for you on those rooms. But rest assured that new insulation and sheet rock has been going up. In lieu of a quality progress post, I’m whipping out the game plan. For … Read more
Last Sunday was our day of rest. No demo, no dust, no mess. Well, no not really. We did do a little insulation installation and sheet rock hanging. But we had to take a bit of a fresh air break. It was way too gorgeous outside not to spend a significant amount of time en … Read more
Yesterday’s post was all about Eminem, I mean, prepping our bedrooms for demolition chaos and today it’s apparently all about the Ying Yang Twins because “Boom! It’s on!”. And by “Boom! It’s on!”, I mean we completely DESTROYED our bedrooms. Consider this the calm before the storm. Colby completely removed the window in our master … Read more
Happy Blogiversary! Can you believe it?! The blog baby is two already! They grow up so fast (she says as a glistening tear rolls down her cheek). And like any good mama, I made cake for the birthday blog: And yes that’s one of Martha’s domed cake stands from Macy’s. I love, love, LOVE it! … Read more
I’m pretty sure that’s just about the most boring post title I’ve ever used. And it totally gives the project away before we even launch into the details. For shame! But I’m tired after just returning home after a riveting tennis match. But anyway….for about a year we’ve had this wooden bowl hanging around our … Read more
Our wedding is officially less than 90 days away! Can you believe it?! Less than three months away! When I realized this for the first time a minor panic button went off in my head. It went something like this, “oh my gosh, you still have so much to do, you haven’t started a single … Read more
It’s official…we have new kitchen floor in the houszzzz! Be prepared…we’ve got about a gazillion and a half pictures of the new kitchen floor prepared for your viewing pleasure. It’s not uncommon for Colby to come home from his work as a mill work salesman with a purchase from one of the local lumber yards he calls on. From grass seed to trim to plywood and even windows! But on Monday, he came home with the ultimate impulse purchase….pine laminate flooring for our kitchen. … Read more
Last weekend was absolutely GORE-geous (she says in her best Real Housewives accent) here in Maine. It has proceeded to pour everyday since then to the point where I’m contemplating building an ark so we can ford the river that flows through our driveway. Seriously…it’s a matter of time before Goose gets swept down the … Read more
And we’re back in the craft room for a re-reorganization and a little painting fun. A few weeks back I setup and organized the craft space but it was nowhere near perfect (read about it back here). Over the last few weeks, I’ve been tweaking it, re-tweaking it, until I’m finally pseudo, almost okay, can … Read more
When uploading these pictures, I realized they are just about the most unglamorous pictures imaginable. Just about as bad as yesterday, where we left off here with the kitchen closet re-do process. With the demo complete and the kitchen a total and utter disaster, it was time to put it all back together again. And … Read more
By now you should know that both Colby and myself suffer from house project ADD. We often jump from room to room and from project to project. It’s what keeps working on the house fun and interesting…working on what we want, when we want, but obviously to an extent (we TRY to finish projects before … Read more
The other night, while Colby was away working at a construction show, I decided it was high time for some craftiness. We’re talking a serious impulse craft project going on here. I had a mess of leftover rope from the CD crate project and a boring lampshade that was attached to the hallway light fixture … Read more

Our beautiful just finished floor that used to look like this just weeks ago: Is doing this: Those are dog scratches large sections of poly peeling up. See: Floor poly film in hand. Oh and did anyone else pick up that … Read more
And by painted piggy I don’t mean of the toe variety, but of the farm animal variety. Put the phone down…stop calling the animal abuse hotline on me…I didn’t paint a real pig…I painted up a pig tray.
