A Lowes Coupon And A MultiTool

In the pecking order of to-do lists for the house, replacing the light fixture above the sink in the kitchen was not even on the radar.  We still don’t have a bathroom vanity, just a board, but replacing the light suddenly became important.  I blame the Lowes coupon.  Curse you Lowes and your save $10 … Read more

Maine Cottage Knock Off

Frustrated with the lack of organization and a “clean” look with our old media storage system, combined with the inspiration from a Maine Cottage creation, resulted in this masterpiece!   The Maine Cottage cabinet (which is IDENTICAL to what Colby and I created) cost a whopping $799!  But we recreated it for a fraction of the … Read more

Makeovers Make Me Happy

It’s only been two months in the making but I have FINALLY finished refinishing the upper cabinets in the kitchen.  Note: I thought I could finish both the uppers and lowers in a weekend.  The great cabinet refinishing project included removing all the old hardware, priming/painting the cabinets and the doors, and installing new hardware.  … Read more

Bring On the Guests

With a puppy who still very much acts like a puppy and chews on things like a puppy, we didn’t think new furniture would be on the radar.  But come tax return season, we trekked on down to the local furniture store to find a stylish futon for the office.  Yes, that’s right, stylish and … Read more

Ladder Shelf…Check

If I can dream it, Colby can build it.  The day I sent Colby home from Bragg’s with a new table saw was the day that he disappeared into the basement workshop only to reappear for beers.  The result of his day long project, a gorgeous custom ladder shelf for the office.  Thanks to Google … Read more

Plant Relocation Services

So here’s the story of the plant…well…more like plants in general.  I kill them.  Not on purpose.  We just like to play a little game of how-long-can-we-go-before-watering.  This plant however, just won’t quit.  It’s actually the first plant I ever brought home with me back in the day when I first moved to Brewer in … Read more

Fancy Don’t Let Me Down

Armed with a small fortune in Lowe’s gift cards from the recent holidays, Colby and I trekked into the new Lowe’s (all the way to Bangor!) for a new faucet.  The prerequisite…it had to have a pull out hose in the faucet.  Colby may be be the best plumber in our house (really no competition … Read more

Let The Studying Begin

Armed with Lowes gift cards, a few Bed Bath & Beyond coupons, and some serious home project motivation, we finally finished the office and it’s all I dreamed of.  It didn’t take much to finish.  A little trim work here, another coat of poly there, outlet covers, a light fixture, and curtain rod later, the … Read more

New Cabinetry…Kind Of

As you may have learned about me by now, I like to make things pretty.  What isn’t pretty in our house?  The kitchen cabinets.  They’re gross and I hate them.  So how do I make them less gross?  Paint them.  In dream kitchen 2015 (yes it will take me that long just to figure out … Read more

Some Semblance of An Office

Slowly but surely the office is becoming an office.  Most of the trim is in, electrical is almost all hooked up, flooring is down with just another couple coats of poly to go, and hopefully the internet cable will be functioning shortly.  With only t-minus three weeks until school starts back up again, we better … Read more

Evolution Of An Office

With one semester coming to a close and a totally brutal semester coming up, I desperately needed a study space not adjacent to the tv.  Studying on Sundays in our household is next to impossible with football on all day.  We’ve put the pedal to the metal and have really made some headway on the … Read more

When ADD Sets In…Porches Get Made Over

The porch makeover would have to be somewhere around number 363 on the must do to-do list on house renovations.  However, neither Colby nor I can concentrate long enough on one thing to actually finish it.  Hence, once the porch got cleaned up and no longer served as storage space for construction debris, a make … Read more

In The Hood

And the kitchen just keep getting prettier.  The olive hood had to go and it did this past week.  A simple fix…spray paint over the olive gross-ness with a hammered steel faux finish paint.  Cost of the fix…only $5!  It still may not work all that well but at least it looks good!

I Get It From My Momma

432 perfectly laid, level and evenly spaced subway tiles…yeah…I take after my mom!  We’re perfectionists and it pays off big time when you tile a bathroom shower. It was your typical weekend project at the Bohovich-Campbell compound.  The old (and by old I mean the four month old sheetrock that we had put up temporarily … Read more

Perfection

Bathroom Tiling Project Stats: And it’s done and it looks so good!  I can’t say that was an easy project.  Combine my desire to achieve perfection with an un-square and un-level bathroom and you’ve got a recipe for a nervous breakdown.  Good thing Colby was at work while I tackled this project!  But because of … Read more

The Shelves That Colby Built

Storage solutions are currently being installed on all levels of the house, built by Colby and finished by moi.  The basement shelving units are amazing and hold all of our pack-ratted-ness.  The dehumidifier has also been a god send!  Moving up to the main level of the house, storage shelves have replaced the ancient dishwasher … Read more
